but the point is the tool is full of little quirks that are a best annoying, just instances of bad design, and at worst are user-hostile. You'll have track items that jump to weird locations when you try to manipulate project tempo. You'll lose your VariAudio data at times and have redo all your changes. And it has lots of little (and sometimes big) bugs that never get fixed. The mixer scales to fit different windows sizes, but it does it by stretching buttons that shouldn't stretch so it just looks stupid. To get a real right-click menu, you have to hold down a special key, and it's still not context sensitive, is huge, unorganized, and requires that you hold down the mouse until you make your selection, unless you hit a different key.
The right-click menu is not context sensitive in any way it just duplicates a tools palette that lets you select between different types of mouse tools (which you don't need in Reaper, because it's editing paradigm is better). In version 8 they finally made it so that plugins didn't get hidden behind the app window, but they also added a floating Mac-like toolbar that doesn't go away when you close all your projects. For instance, you can't select loop regions by dragging right to left, only left to right it actually creates the region if you drag right to left, but marks it red indicating you fucked up and have to redraw left to right. The UI has always been full of borderline-retarded design decisions, most of which will seem petty if described, but which sort of take on weight in aggregate. It's a world class DAW and you can do anything you want with it.
